The US Department of Labor (DOL) admits that the FMLA is “very technical, unwieldy, and can be difficult to understand.”
In response, they’ve released a 16-page plain-language guide for employees to answer common questions.
According to the DOL, the Employee Guide addresses the following:
- Who can use FMLA? (coverage and eligibility)
- When can I use it? (qualifying reasons to take it)
- What can it do for me? (rights and protections)
- How do I request leave?
- Communication with Employer
- Medical Certification
- Returning to Work
- How to File a Complaint
This is a reference you’ll want to have handy when you need to use the Family and Medical Leave Act as part of your work-life management strategy. Click to download your free PDF copy of the booklet.
